How many organisations are on the database and what areas does it focus on?
Answer: The database includes more than 9600 organisations providing HIV-related support across the country.
What does it cost to subscribe to the database? Do you pay when using the service?
Answer: There are no fees for joining or accessing the services online or via the Data Collection/Referral Line.
What is the focus of the database - i.e. who do we target as members?
Answer: The focus is broad - any organisation providing an HIV-related service. We guard against organisations that only seek to make money from HIV/AIDS.
How much do the directories cost, how do they work and when will all the provincial directories be available?
Answer: Directories cost R200 per provincial directory. There are 9 Provincial Directories in Series 1. Each Directory is divided up into district and local municipalities. Organisations are alphabetized into these categories.
Marketing?
Answer: We encourage all organisations on the database to use the HIV-911 service and that they refer others to the service.
Is all the information I am giving you going to be available online?
Answer: We limit the amount of information that we make available on ine on each organisation. The Data Collection Centre staff have access to the full dataset on each organisation as well as comments / feedback received from clients that are referred to organisations.
Do you give out database dumps to others?
Answer: We do not in general give out our database as a data dump. Where this has happened it has been a limited dataset. All organizational records can be searched online and we refer organisations requesting this information to our online directory.
